Egypt in 10 Days: The Ideal In-Depth Itinerary

Itineraries · 7 min read · Published 2025-07-08

Ten days lets you see Egypt without rushing: Cairo, a full Nile cruise, Abu Simbel and time to breathe.

Ten days is, for many people, the perfect length for Egypt. You get the Pyramids and a full Nile cruise with room to add Abu Simbel or a few relaxed days on the Red Sea, all without the breathless pace of a shorter trip.

Days 1 to 3: Cairo Take your time with the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, Old Cairo, and a day for Saqqara and Dahshur, the quieter pyramids to the south. Starting slowly beats jet-lagged rushing.

Days 4 to 7: the Nile cruise Fly south and sail between Aswan and Luxor over four nights, taking in Philae, Kom Ombo, Edfu, Karnak and the Valley of the Kings. From Aswan, add the early trip to Abu Simbel, one of Egypt's most jaw-dropping sights.

Days 8 to 10: your choice Finish with a few days on the Red Sea to relax, or return to Cairo for deeper exploration and the bazaars. Either way you end rested rather than frazzled.

Why ten days works Nothing feels squeezed, you see the genuine highlights plus a few lesser-visited gems, and there's downtime built in. Our Wonders of Egypt & Red Sea trip follows this shape. Want longer? See our two-week guide.

Tell us your priorities and we'll build the ideal ten days around them.
