Egypt in 5 Days: A Short but Complete Itinerary
Only five days? You can still see the Pyramids and the best of the Nile. Here's how to make it count.
Five days in Egypt is tight, but it's enough for the highlights if you focus. The trick is to pick two things, Cairo and a short slice of the Nile, and do them properly rather than rushing everywhere.
Days 1 to 2: Cairo and Giza Land and spend a full day at the Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum. Add Old Cairo or a Nile dinner cruise if you have energy. This is the part nobody should skip.
Days 3 to 4: a quick Nile hit Fly to Luxor and join a short Nile cruise, or base yourself in Luxor for the temples: Karnak, Luxor Temple and the Valley of the Kings. Flying saves you a wasted travel day. Our short Nile cruise is built for exactly this.
Day 5: home Fly back to Cairo and onward, squeezing in anything you missed if your flight is late.
Make it work Don't try to add the Red Sea or Abu Simbel in five days; you'll spend the trip in transit. Keep it to Cairo plus Luxor, go private so you skip queues and hassle, and you'll come home having genuinely seen Egypt. Got a day or two more?
