Ten days, 28 July to 6 August 2027, built around the longest total solar eclipse on accessible land this century: over six minutes of totality at Karnak on 2 August, framed as a heritage journey through the land of the Black pharaohs. Overview
On August 2, 2027, the Moon's shadow sweeps across Luxor and the sky goes dark over the greatest temples of the ancient world. It is the longest total solar eclipse on easily accessible land in the 21st century, with up to 6 minutes and 22 seconds of totality near Luxor, and it will not be matched until the year 2114. We have built a private ten-day heritage journey around it. Two nights in Cairo first, for the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum; then a flight south to Aswan and a five-star Nile cruise to Luxor, with Philae, Kom Ombo, Edfu and the Valley of the Kings on the way, arriving in time for eclipse morning among the columns of Karnak. After totality you fly back to Cairo for four more nights: a day on the Mediterranean in Alexandria, Old Coptic and Islamic Cairo, and the Royal Mummies at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. The trip runs 28 July to 6 August 2027, fixed around the eclipse. Standard is $5,200 per person twin share ($6,700 travelling alone), Deluxe $7,300 ($9,550) and Luxury $9,650 ($12,800). Children under 6 travel at 50% off and ages 6 to 11 at 25% off, sharing with adults. Pay 25% to book, 25% by 31 January 2027 and the balance by 28 May 2027. Demand for August 2027 is extraordinary and hotels and cruisers sell out far ahead, so this is a book-early journey. International flights are not included.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Cairo
Met at Cairo International Airport by our representative, who walks you through immigration and baggage, then a private transfer to your hotel. We go through the trip with you, and the rest of the day is yours.
Day 2: The Pyramids, the Sphinx & the Grand Egyptian Museum
The last surviving Wonder of the Ancient World: the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, the Great Sphinx, and a panoramic stop across the Giza plateau. Lunch with a pyramid view, then the Grand Egyptian Museum, which now holds the complete treasures of Tutankhamun. A camel or horse ride on the plateau is easy to add.
Day 3: South to Aswan — the High Dam, Philae & embarkation
An early flight south to Aswan, where your guide meets you for the High Dam, the temple of Philae on its island, and the Unfinished Obelisk still lying in its quarry. You board your five-star cruiser for lunch and spend the evening on the water.
Day 4: Kom Ombo & Edfu
Sailing north, ashore at Kom Ombo — the one temple shared between Sobek the crocodile god and Horus — then on to Edfu, reached by horse-drawn carriage, for the best-preserved temple in Egypt. Full board and the night aboard.
Day 5: The Theban West Bank
Across to the west bank of Luxor for the Valley of the Kings, where the pharaohs were buried, the terraced temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, and the Colossi of Memnon. A free afternoon aboard.
Day 6: Eclipse Day — totality at Karnak, 2 August 2027
An early disembarkation in Luxor and straight into the precinct of Amun at Karnak for the total solar eclipse: up to 6 minutes and 22 seconds of totality, among the longest anywhere on Earth in over four hundred years. The partial phases run for more than an hour before it. An evening flight back to Cairo.
Day 7: Alexandria
North to the Mediterranean by private vehicle: the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, Pompey's Pillar and the Roman Amphitheatre at Kom El Dikka, lunch in Alexandria, then the Qaitbay Citadel on the site of the ancient Pharos, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the Corniche. Back to Cairo in the evening.
Day 8: Coptic & Islamic Cairo
The Hanging Church, the Church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus, Ben Ezra Synagogue and the Coptic Museum, then the Citadel of Salah El-Din and the Mosque of Mohammed Ali, with free time in the Khan El Khalili bazaar.
Day 9: The Royal Mummies & the Egyptian Museum
The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization and its Royal Mummies Hall, where the New Kingdom kings and queens now lie, then the historic Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square. Lunch with a pyramid view and a last evening in Cairo.
Day 10: Departure
Breakfast, check out and a private transfer to Cairo International Airport for your flight home.
