Overview
On August 2, 2027, the Moon's shadow sweeps across Luxor and the sky goes dark over the greatest temples of the ancient world. It is the longest total solar eclipse on easily accessible land in the 21st century, with up to 6 minutes and 22 seconds of totality near Luxor, and it will not be matched until the year 2114. We have built a private heritage journey around it: the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, a five-star Nile cruise, and eclipse day itself spent in the path of totality among the columns of Kemet. Demand for August 2027 is extraordinary and hotels and cruisers sell out far ahead, so this is a book-early journey. The trip runs 28 July to 3 August 2027, fixed around the eclipse, and everything else is private and tailored to your group. Standard is $4,300 per person twin share, Deluxe $5,800 and Luxury $7,400; a separate family departure runs 29 July to 4 August at $6,900 with under-12s at half price. International flights are not included.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Cairo
Met at Cairo International Airport by our representative, who walks you through immigration and baggage, then a private transfer to your hotel. We go through the week with you over the evening.
Day 2: The Pyramids, the Sphinx & the Grand Egyptian Museum
The last surviving Wonder of the Ancient World: the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, the Great Sphinx, and a panoramic stop across the Giza plateau. Then the Grand Egyptian Museum, which now holds the complete treasures of Tutankhamun. A camel or horse ride on the plateau and lunch with a pyramid view are both easy to add.
Day 3: South to Aswan — the High Dam, Philae & embarkation
An early flight south to Aswan, where your guide meets you for the High Dam, the temple of Philae on its island, and the Unfinished Obelisk still lying in its quarry. You board your five-star cruiser before lunch and spend the evening on the water.
Day 4: Kom Ombo & Edfu
Sailing north, ashore at Kom Ombo — the one temple shared between Sobek the crocodile god and Horus — then on to Edfu, reached by horse-drawn carriage, for the best-preserved temple in Egypt. Dinner and the night aboard.
Day 5: The Theban West Bank
Across to the west bank of Luxor for the Valley of the Kings, where the pharaohs were buried, and the terraced temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, carved into the cliff itself. The Colossi of Memnon on the way back to the ship.
Day 6: Eclipse Day — totality at Karnak, 2 August 2027
An early disembarkation in Luxor and straight into the precinct of Amun at Karnak for the total solar eclipse: up to 6 minutes and 22 seconds of totality, among the longest anywhere on Earth in over four hundred years. The partial phases run for more than an hour before it. An evening flight back to Cairo.
Day 7: Departure
Check out and a private transfer to Cairo International Airport for your flight home.
