Private Egypt Tours

A private tour means Egypt runs on your schedule: your own licensed Egyptologist, your own air-conditioned car and driver, and an itinerary built around what you want to see. We are a family-run, licensed tour company in Giza and have been planning private trips, mostly for American travelers, since 2010.

What "private" means on our tours

Your guide and vehicle are yours alone, so there is no waiting for strangers and no fixed group schedule. You choose when to start the day, how long to stay at each site and where to stop for lunch. Hotels are booked for you, and every airport arrival is met. Nile cruises are the one exception worth knowing about: on most cruise itineraries you have your own cabin and your own guide ashore, but the ship itself is shared with other travelers. If you want the river to yourself, our private dahabiya journey charters a traditional sailing boat.

Popular private itineraries

Who we plan private trips for

Couples and honeymooners (Egypt Honeymoon), families travelling with children or grandparents (Egypt Family Adventure), solo travelers who want company and support without a coach group (Egypt Solo Explorer), African American heritage travelers and groups (Egypt & Nubia Heritage Journey), and faith journeys such as our Coptic & Christian Heritage Tour. Clubs, churches, alumni chapters and other groups get the same private service, and the group leader travels free for every 15 paying guests.

How planning a private tour works

1. Tell us roughly when you want to travel, how many of you there are and what interests you. 2. Within 24 hours we email you a day-by-day itinerary with a clear price. 3. We adjust it until it is right: hotels, pace, extra days, a Red Sea stay or Abu Simbel. 4. When you arrive, our team meets you at the airport, and we are on call 24/7 until you fly home.

Private tour or group tour?

Group tours can be cheaper per person and suit travelers who enjoy meeting strangers. A private tour costs more than the cheapest coach tours, but you get a guide who answers your questions rather than a microphone, early starts that beat the crowds at the pyramids, and the freedom to change the plan on the day. For families, older travelers and anyone with specific interests, private is usually the better experience.

Why travel with Egypt Top Light

We are licensed by Egypt's Ministry of Tourism (licence no. 2051), IATA accredited and based in Giza, a few minutes from the pyramids. We have been running private tours since 2010, and about half of our guests come to us through US travel advisors. Every tour is led by a licensed Egyptologist, and you deal with the same small team from your first email to your last day.

Egypt Travel: Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a private Egypt tour cost?

Our private tours start from $340 per person for a 3-day Cairo trip and $1,390 per person for an 8-day tour with the pyramids and a five-star Nile cruise. Longer trips and private dahabiya journeys run from about $1,900 to $4,200 per person. Prices depend on dates, group size and hotel standard, so we confirm an exact price with every itinerary. International flights and the Egypt visa are not included.

Can I change the itinerary?

Yes. Every itinerary on our site is a starting point. You can add or remove days, change hotels, slow the pace, add Abu Simbel, Alexandria or the Red Sea, or build a completely custom route.

Is the Nile cruise private too?

On most cruise itineraries your cabin, guide and transfers are private, but the ship is shared with other guests. For a fully private river journey we can arrange a dahabiya, a traditional sailing boat with only a few cabins.

Do you plan private tours for groups?

Yes. We plan private trips for families, friends, churches, clubs and alumni groups. The group has its own guide and vehicles, and the group leader travels free for every 15 paying guests.
