Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in the Black land
Meet-and-assist through Cairo Airport and a private transfer to your hotel, with an evening primer from your host: the shape of the journey ahead, from Kemet's heartland to the deep south of Kush.
Day 2: Giza as an African monument
The Pyramids and the Sphinx with your Egyptologist, taught as what they are — the monumental achievement of an African civilization — followed by the Grand Egyptian Museum, where the galleries let you trace Kemet's origins and its long relationship with the south.
Day 3: Old Cairo, then the flight to Nubia's edge
Coptic and Islamic Cairo in the morning — layers of the land's later story — then fly south to Aswan, the historic frontier between Egypt and Kush, and board your cruiser.
Day 4: Philae and the living south
The island Temple of Philae, where the goddess Isis was worshipped at Nubia's threshold for centuries, then a living Nubian village — the continuity your guide has been pointing toward all day, present and unbroken.
Day 5: Abu Simbel, deep in Kush
The colossal temples of Abu Simbel, carved into the mountain in the heart of ancient Nubia. Here the story turns: your guide takes you through Egypt's long entanglement with Kush — and the day Kush answered, when Piye marched north around 730 BC and took the double crown. Sail for Kom Ombo.
Day 6: The river the kingdoms shared
Kom Ombo and Edfu — among the best-preserved temples on the Nile — as you sail the river that bound Kemet and Kush together, with deck time to digest a dense few days of history.
Day 7: Thebes and the evidence in stone
Karnak, where the great column of Taharqa still stands in the first court, then the Avenue of Sphinxes and the royal tombs of the Valley of the Kings — reading the record of Egypt's dynasties, the 25th included, cut into the stone itself.
Day 8: Depart with the fuller story
Meet-and-assist for your onward flight. You came knowing the names; you leave having stood where they ruled.
